The Desert Waste

The Desert Waste
Once called Deos Terram, The Desert Waste is tucked in behind the Vale and is completely geographnically isolated from teh rest of the world. It took the worst of Ators terror during his reign, and was his final resting place atop of Mount Rolnith.

The once fertile area was decimated by the Ezri Orcish wars, scarred by Ator himself, and cursed by the deity Hoar. The area is now almost entirely dead, save for some more unnatureal creatures that room the sandy waste.

The Northern have of the Waste was cut off in the latest decade, with some entity daming up the once life giving river, flooding Mount Rolnith almost to its peek, along with constructing what some claim to be a magical stone wall, impervius to the might of men. Many claim it to be the high priest and his acolytes, while others clame it was the undead that they served, who altered the geoprahy in the area.

The Crystal city
Once a major city in Morrain, it used to govern the entire realm - nustled in it's geographnical isolation, no army could penetrate it. The Vale was the perfect shield for a once gloriously wealthy and powerful city.

It's rumored that the greed and lust that the city fostered during it's peek led Altor the Burning to seek it out and raize it, along with the entire area.

The crystal city, mostly in ruins, now serves as a hot spot for more dubious creatures in the area.
Temple of Death
Once outwardly devoted to the agriculture goddess Denithae, this temple is an unusually grand edifice for such a deity, with a stone dome open to the heavens, towering stained glass windows, and mighty walls composed of enormous stone blocks. The Temple was built a century ago when High Priest Scariel arrived in Morrain with his train of silent, masked acolytes.

At the height of its power, the temple’s congregation was open to a select few, who invariably prospered – usually due to the failing health of those who stood against them. Many clamored for the privilege of attending the closed masses, but only the wealthiest and most powerful were permitted to join, and even then they wore masks when attending the moonlight gatherings.

This charade ended in the last decade, when it was discovered that the high priest and his acolytes were holding secret services to Bargul, god of death and the undead. Meeting in unholy chapels hidden beneath the temple, the wicked priest and his select congregation made blood offerings to Bargul, even —- so the rumors go —- converting their own bastard children into undead to serve their god. The subsequent investigation led to orders for the arrest and imprisonment of House Ranwaer, but the temple’s High Priest and two of his acolytes were never apprehended.

Due to the heavy magic that inhabits the northern part of the Waste, it hasn't been possible to send a expedition safely to the area and of those who have tried, have never returned. It's rumored that the High Priest Scariel and his acolytes still practice their dark magic beneath the Temple of Death, atop Mount Rolnith, protected by the Bloody Star Tribe..
