Hellborn

As the name suggests, this race is born form the Nine Hells of Baator. Their appearance is like that of a tiefling, but they have three sets of horns, two spiraling like some breeds of rams, two smaller horns pointing up from their forehead, and two tiny horns on the cheeks. Their skin and hair tones are reddish or purplish and their eyes are various exotic colors, but they are solid and without a pupil. Their skin has a slight but visual coating of scales. They also have a four to five foot long forked tail and large, leathery wings of a bat.

Traits

  • Ability Score Increase Your Intelligence score increases by 1, and both your Dexterity and Charisma scores increase by 2.
  • Age Hellborn live forever, so you could be any age and still look as old as you want to be.
  • Alignment Hellborn are always stereo typically Lawful Evil, and many are. You can also repent from your actions and Devilish nature.
  • Size. Medium
  • Speed. Your base walking speed is 30 feet.
  • Darkvision Accustomed to the dim, fiery atmosphere of the Hells, you have an extended darkvision of 120 feet.
  • Languages You can speak, read, and write Deep Speech, Infernal, Abyssal, and Common. You can take a name from any of these languages.

Abilities / Features

Flight: You have a flying speed of 30 feet.

Baator's Fire: At 6th level, you can control the fires of Hell and can summon it as a spell that takes a form of your choice. Until then, you can still call on it as wild magic from the Wild Magic Table.

Never-Ending Life: When you drop to 0 hit points and die, you drop a glowing red orb in your place. Using this orb, within 5 turns others can resurrect you with advantage on an Arcana check with a DC of 19. After 5 turns, if you haven't been resurrected, the orb disappears and you are sent back to the Nine Hells. If they succeed, a vortex of fire appears around the orb that spans 15 feet in every direction for three turns. After three turns, the vortex disappears and you spawn with half of your hit points in its place.

Lore
Over the years, Devils have been crossing over to the Material Realm by some means or another. However, the first Devil ever to be recorded as an adventurer was the daughter of the Devil previously in charge of all of the contracts made between mortals and devils. She survived a direct attack during the Great Modron March.
